*SPECIAL REOPENING NOTICE:

The Department is reopening this competition for eligible applicants in affected areas in Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas to allow those applicants more time to prepare and submit their applications. For applicants that meet the eligibility criteria in this notice, we are reopening the competition until March 15, 2021.  We are also extending the intergovernmental review deadline until May 25, 2021. Program Description

This program provides fellowships, through academic departments and programs of IHEs, to assist graduate students with excellent records who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue the highest degree available in their course study at the institution in a field designated as an area of national need.


Types of Projects

Grants are awarded to programs and institutions to sustain and enhance the capacity for teaching and research in areas of national need.
