The Department's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has determined that some records related to OCR's investigations of elementary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions for alleged discrimination involving shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics, filed in or after October 2023, are ones for which multiple Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests have been (or are likely to be) received.

At the bottom of this page are files that contain the complaints that resulted in OCR opening an investigation of an elementary, secondary, or post-secondary institution for alleged discrimination based on race, color, or national origin involving shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics since October 2023. Additional records from those investigations, such as the letter notifying the institution that an investigation has been opened, may also be included in the same or a separate file. This page will be regularly updated.

As a public service, OCR maintains a list of elementary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions that are under investigation for alleged discrimination involving shared ancestry or ethnic characteristics. The records below may include institutions that are no longer on that list because the investigation of that institution has been closed or resolved. The written resolutions of some investigations may be available through OCR's Recent Resolution Search.
