Biography

Jessica Ramakis serves as the Acting Chief Privacy Officer and the Chief of Staff for the Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development (OPEPD) at the U.S. Department of Education. In these capacities, she leads, and provides strategic advice for, large-scale efforts that affect the Department’s policy, evidence, and privacy work. Prior to this role, Ms. Ramakis served as Deputy Chief of Staff in OPEPD, and before that was an analyst in the Department’s Budget Service. Ms. Ramakis has also worked at the Office of Management and Budget’s Education Branch and at the Senate Committee for Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. She began her federal career as a Presidential Management Fellow at the Department’s Policy and Program Studies Service. Prior to her government service, she was a research assistant with the Los Angeles Unified School District and with UCLA. Ms. Ramakis has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA where she graduated magna cum laude, and a Master’s in Public Policy also from UCLA. She lives in the Washington, D.C. area with her husband and two young children.
