The Office of the Chief Privacy Officer (OCPO) are located within the Office of Management (OM). OCPO is overseen by the Department of Education's Chief Privacy Officer, and is divided into primary service areas. OCPO also oversees the work of the Privacy Technical Assistance Center, and the Department of Education's Disclosure Review Board.

Family Policy Compliance Office
The Family Policy Compliance Division, known as the Family Poliy Compliance Office (FPCO) is responsible for administering two federal laws that provide parents and students with certain privacy rights: the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA). In addition, FPCO is tasked with the responsibility of administering the provisions in the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that require local educational agencies that receive ESEA funds to provide military and postsecondary recruiters with access to students, as well as contact information on students, unless their parents opt out of the disclosure.
Freedom of Information Act Service Center
Welcome to the U.S. Department of Education's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Service Center. The FOIA Service Center is responsible for overseeing the Department's FOIA operations which includes responding to FOIA requests, using the Department's Case Management System, training, reporting, and providing overall guidance throughout the Department to ensure agency compliance with the FOIA. The FOIA Service Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Information Collections Clearance Division
The Information Collections Clearance Division (ICCD) is responsible for ensuring agency compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. ICCD analyzes proposed information collections requests; provides guidance and training on the clearance process; reports annually on agency activity, reviews regulatory notices for adherence to the PRA and Executive Order 12866 procedures, and monitors, reviews and responds to information quality requests from the public.

The Records and Documents Management Division (RDMD) is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and programs designed to ensure compliance with the Federal Records Act. The Office develops clear and consistent business rules; provides guidance and instruction to Department staff; and develops and provides print materials and Web-based training.
