Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990: University of Cincinnati (OH) (15-13-6001)

On December 8, 2014, the University of Cincinnati signed an agreement to resolve a Section 504 / Title II compliance review that OCR initiated to examine how accessible the University of Cincinnati’s websites were to persons with disabilities, particularly those with sensory impairments who might use assistive technology to access the sites. The agreement requires the University to develop, adopt, and provide notice and training on a web accessibility policy and an implementation and remediation plan to ensure adherence to the policy; review its website and e-learning platform(s) to identify and correct any accessibility problems; provide certification from a third-party web accessibility consultant or a qualified University employee that the University’s electronic and information technologies meet the technical standard(s) adopted by the school; and provide OCR with reports describing its efforts to comply with its web accessibility policy and plan for multiple subsequent school years, including information documenting any compliance issues discovered through the monitoring, audits, or complaints and the actions taken to correct those issues. The University also agreed to develop and publish an appropriate notice of nondiscrimination and to designate one or more persons to coordinate its efforts to comply with Section 504 and Title II and identify that person(s) in its notice of nondiscrimination.
