Implementing DAP Code: ED.gov Statistics, Satisfaction and Heatmaps
The Department of Education Web Team and Digital Government Strategy Initiative Team are strong participants in the government-wide Digital Analytics Program (DAP).
DAP is designed to help agencies implement Milestone 8.2 of the Digital Government Strategy, which calls for using comprehensive analytics across agencies' websites. OMB Memorandum M-17-06 [PDF, 1.2MB] requires federal agencies to implement the DAP JavaScript code on all public facing federal websites. Statistics for DAP government-wide sites are publicly available.
DAP code can be deployed on pages that also have other Google Analytics code in them, such as ED.gov.
It's easy to implement the DAP code. The federated code should be added as close to the closing </head> tag as possible,... For example:
<script async type="text/javascript" id="_fed_an_ua_tag" src="https://dap.digitalgov.gov/Universal-Federated-Analytics-Min.js?agency=ED"></script> </head>
Additional information on implementation is available on the DAP site:
- Add Your Site to DAP
- Implementation Guide [PDF, 293KB]
Short of implementing the federated DAP code, we ask that when Google Analytics is deployed on an ED-related site that access to the profile be given to WebAnalytics@ed.gov.
If you have any questions, please contact Web@ed.gov.
