Bio/Overview: Stacey Dallas Johnston has been teaching English and Literature at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts (LVA) for thirteen years and also serves as a Teacher Leader with the Employee Onboarding Department of the Clark County School District. In previous years she has also taught at the West Career and Technical Academy and Dell H. Robison Middle School in Las Vegas. An inductee into the Clark County School District’s Excellence in Education Hall of Fame, Johnston is celebrated in her community and in the Nevada region for her fierce passion for teaching and her leadership in the field.
Educational Values/Philosophy: Building a classroom community where students feel safe, respected, and valued is one of the cornerstones of Johnston’s Educational philosophy. Giving students a space that is not only rigorous but creative and nurturing, allows the students who walk into her classroom an invitation to learn in an environment that respects individuality, encourages a growth mindset, and welcomes diversity.
Achievements: Most recently, in May 2016, Johnston received the Myra Greenspun Teacher Excellence Award for her innovative teaching strategies and for her accomplishments in raising student achievement. She received the LVA “Teacher of Excellence” award three times in a row from 2013-2015. Johnston has received a Certificate of Congressional Recognition from U.S. Representative Dina Titus for her exemplary teaching and is a three-year Scholastic Art and Writing Gold Medal Educator. She is the recipient of the Clark County Distinguished Service Award and has been a finalist for the Kiwanis Teacher of the Year award and the Review Journal Teacher of the Year award. Johnston has presented at numerous conferences and educational functions, notably the 2013 College Board AP Regional Forum in NYC, the Nevada Department of Education Mega Conference, and the 1st Annual Southern Nevada Educator Leadership Symposium. She is also a four-time Nevada Association of School Councils “Advisor of the Year” nominee.
Leadership Experience: Johnston is the Liberal Arts Department Coordinator and a Teacher Leader at LVA. After completing the four-week invitational summer institute at the Southern Nevada Writing Project, she now coordinates the summer literacy camp as a Fellow in addition to being a certified Edmodo Ambassador. Johnston is a certified Edmodo Ambassador, as well as a Teacher Leader with the Employee Onboarding Department of the Clark County School District. In 2015 Johnston was nominated to attend the “Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching” Conference hosted by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Education: Stacy Dallas Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Comprehensive English from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She received her Masters of Secondary Education from Regis University’s College of Professional Study.
