Bio/Overview: Ledesma is presently the Director of Information Systems and Analytics at the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), responsible for developing solutions for meeting the strategic needs of the organization. Ledesma leads the team responsible for information technologies, analytics, and application development. Prior to this, Ledesma was the NBPTS Director of Educator Engagement. Earlier, he served as a middle school technology specialist and special education department chair with Fairfax County Public Schools. Ledesma was a blogger for Education Week Teacher and has also taught various technology professional development courses for his district. He has also taught special education, technology integration, and National Board certification graduate courses for George Mason University as an adjunct instructor.

Educational Values/Philosophy: Never stop learning - change is inevitable. As educators, we prepare our students to successfully navigate the inevitable personal and professional changes in their lives.

Achievements: Ledesma earned National Board Certification in 2001, which led to exciting projects with Apple and the Center for Teaching Quality.

Leadership Experience: As a technology specialist, Ledesma led the direction and implementation of innovative technologies to advance student and teacher learning. As a special education department chair, Ledesma was responsible for the coordination and management of services at his middle school. Ledesma has worked in the staff development at the district office where he managed the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Program and assisted with the new teacher mentoring programs. Ledesma has presented at various national and state conferences for the Alliance of Excellent Education, Association of Education Publishers (AEP), American Research Education Association (AERA), International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE), Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (VAASCD), and the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA).

Affiliations: Association of Teacher Educators, Center for Teaching Quality/Teacher Leaders Network, EDWeek, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, American Research Education Association, International Society for Technology in Education, Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Virginia School Boards Association.

Education: Ledesma earned his undergraduate and Master’s degree from the College of William & Mary. He received his Ed.S. in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech and his Ph.D. at George Mason University. He is currently in the MBA program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
