Program Type: Contracts
Also Known As: Regional Labs

Program Description

Under this program, IES supports contracts with Regional Education Laboratories to conduct applied research and development, provide technical assistance, and disseminate information in an effort to help States and school districts improve their education programs and ultimately, student performance.

Additional Information

The ten Regional Educational Laboratories (RELs) work in partnership with school districts, State educational agencies, and others to use data and research to improve academic outcomes for students. They do this by conducting applied research that seeks to solve practical problems and advances fundamental understandings of education problems and processes; facilitating the flow of actionable, up-to-date research evidence and information, ideas, and approaches that are clearly based on credible research evidence among researchers, practitioners, and policymakers; and providing training, coaching and technical support related to the application and use of scientifically-valid research through extensive, ongoing, or customized support to meet the needs of particular stakeholders.
