2017 Professional Development Competition Status
    The Office of Indian Education is announcing that there will be no new grant competition under the Indian Professional Development Grant program for FY 2017. FY 2016 was the last year a competition was held under this program when 20 new awards were made. For more information contact:

    • Applications must be submitted electronically through

    • The Grants.Gov Opportunity Number is: ED-GRANTS-051716-001 and the CFDA Number is: 84.299B

    • Applicants will need to set up a Grants.Gov account in order to access the 2016 Professional Development grant application. The direct link to the application package on is located here: but may not be available until later. The CFDA number for the Professional Development Program is 84.299B.

    • When available we will provide a direct link to download the Professional Development application to work offline. To submit the application online or work on the application online, applicants must register in and provide certain information before they can apply online or submit their applications online.

    All applications must be submitted by the closing date of July 1, 2016 and meet the submission requirements identified in the Notice Inviting Applications in order to be considered for FY 2016 funding.

    Projects selected for funding should plan start dates of October 1, 2016.

    • The Office of Indian Education will conduct a Pre-Application Webinar for the Professional Development Grant Competition. The date and time for the webinar will be posted here when finalized.


      The US Department of Education and the Office of Indian Education is conducting a Pre-Application Webinar on the Indian Professional Development Program on May 9, 2016.

      Prospective 2016 Professional Development Grant Applicant:

      On May 17, 2016 the U.S. Department of Education published a Federal Register Notice inviting applications for the Professional Development program in the Office of Indian Education (OIE). In order to facilitate the application process OIE is conducting a Pre-Application Webinar on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. ET. This webinar will assist applicants as they prepare their applications for the July 1, 2016 closing date. Specifically, this webinar is designed to build knowledge of the Professional Development grant program application process, provide an overview of the application elements, highlight federal grant resources, and address applicant concerns.

      After your request has been approved, you'll receive emailed instructions and the presentation for joining in the meeting.
