Applicant Information

As announced in the Department’s regulatory agenda, the Department intends to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking regarding this program that will address 34 C.F.R. §663.21(c)(3), which currently reads as follows:

(3) The applicant's proficiency in one or more of the languages (other than English and the applicant's native language), of the country or countries of research, and the specific measures to be taken to overcome any anticipated language barriers . . .

Interested parties will have the opportunity to comment on any proposed changes to these regulations at that time.

Timeline

Faculty Research Abroad competitions are held annually, pending the availability of funds.

We do not anticipate holding a competition for this program in FY 2023. However, interested applicants may wish to review the below information to begin preparing their application materials for the anticipated competition in FY 2024.

The webinar premiere features live chat with IFLE program officers.
