Application Process

All applicants were required to submit an application online through Grants.gov. Grants.gov is a single access point for over 1,000 grant programs offered by federal and other grant-making agencies.

Hurricane Education Recovery Awards were made through a three-stage process:

1. Eligible applicants downloaded and completed the Pre-Application Information Form below from this Web site and e-mail the completed form to program contact Cassandra Courtney at HERA2@ed.gov by July 27, 2007.

2. The Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) entered this data into a formula to determine each applicant's equitable share of the $30,000,000 available for these awards. OPE e-mailed each institution's allotment to the contact person named on the data information form by July 31, 2007.

3. Applicant institutions then prepared and submited a final application for the exact amount of their allotments, through the Grants.gov system. Final applications were due by August 17, 2007.
