On November 1, 2007, the Department published in the Federal Register a Final Rule on the Federal Perkins Loan Program, Federal Family Education Loan Program, and William D. Ford Direct Loan Program. This follows publication on June 12, 2007, of a notice of proposed rulemaking for these same programs.

The second negotiating session for the loans issues team was held February 5-7, 2007. This 2-1/2 day session began at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5 at the Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National Airport.
The third negotiating session for the loans issues team was held March 12-14, 2007. This 2-1/2 day session began at 9:00 a.m. on Monday March 12 at the Holiday Inn Crystal City.
