The Gifted and Talented Students program provides funding for
demonstration projects in activities designed to enhance the ability
of schools to meet the special education needs of gifted and talented
students, including economically disadvantaged sudents, students with
limited English proficiency, and students with disabilities. Activities
include training of personnel in the education of gifted and talented
students and, where appropriate, in the use of gifted and talented
services, materials and methods for all students. The program’s own
provisions require the secretary of education to ensure, where appropriate,
equitable services for private school students and teachers, including the
participation of teachers and other personnel in professional development
programs serving such students.
