The Department has granted flexibility to four districts identified as in need of improvement to apply to become supplemental educational services (SES) providers. The Department has granted flexibility to four States, allowing some of their districts to offer SES to eligible students in schools in year one of improvement status.

Application Letters to States
In May 2007, the Department invited eligible States to renew or apply for participation in 2007-08 in the SES Pilot allowing some of their school districts with schools in year 1 of school improvement the option of providing SES to students.
