UPDATE TO SOLICITATION: NOTE THAT THE DUE DATE FOR PROPOSALS HAS BEEN EXTENDED THROUGH OCTOBER 29, 1998. ALSO, SEE THE FILE BELOW TITLED "ANSAMEND.TXT". IT CONTAINS AMENDMENT NO. 0002 TO RFP ED-98-0027. ED'S RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS FROM POTENTIAL OFFERORS ARE INCLUDED IN THE AMENDMENT.

The U. S. Department of Education seeks a contractor to operate the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention. The Center's mission is to combat drug use and abuse and the consequences associated with it in American colleges and universities through use of prevention strategies. The Center activities will include providing training and technical assistance on alcohol and other drug use and prevention for IHEs; developing and distributing information materials; providing support for the Network of Colleges and Universities committed to the elimination of drugs and alcohol abuse, and conducting evaluation and assessment activities. Links to the Statement of Work, RFP, and other documents necessary to prepare a proposal are below.

Requests for copies of the RFP may be made by telephone, mail, telegram, Internet, or in person. All requests shall reference the RFP number (ED-98-R-0027) and title. Telephone requests may be placed by calling 202-708-6498. Mail or telegram requests shall be sent to the following address, U.S. Department of Education/CPO, ATTN: Yolanda Abney, Room 3616, 7 & D Streets, SW, Washington, DC 20202-4443. Internet requests may be sent to Yolanda_Abney@ed.gov. Copies of the RFP may be picked up in person on the issuing date at the above address, Room 3616. Issue date is August 21, 1998 and Closing date is October 22, 1998. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered. The dates listed herein are subject to change.
