This table shows a summary of the number of borrowers in default and in repayment for each guaranty agency. The table also shows the borrower default rate and how the guaranty agencies are ranked.

• Borrower default rates varied across guaranty agencies for the FY94 cohort and ranged from a high of 16.1 percent for Louisiana to a low of 1.6 percent for North Dakota.
• In FY94, one-half of the 42 guaranty agencies reported default rates of less than 10.0 percent.

NOTE: The borrower cohort default rate is the fraction of borrowers entering repayment in a given fiscal year who default by the end of the following fiscal year.
