Tables 32-34. Combinations of Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program participation among Stafford Subsidized, Stafford Unsubsidized, Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), and Supplemental Loan for Students (SLS) borrowers, by type of institution: FY94*
These tables report the distribution of FFEL program borrowers and dollars disbursed, by type of institution, through various loan program combinations. The number of borrowers and dollar amounts of each loan combination is presented in addition to the percentage that each loan combination represents of the total loan volume disbursed to students at the various types of institutions.
- In FY94, the largest proportion of FFEL program dollars was borrowed through the Stafford Subsidized program across all types of institutions, except at proprietary institutions. At proprietary institutions, the largest proportion of FFEL dollars was borrowed through the Stafford Subsidized and SLS loan program combination.
- In FY95 and FY96, the largest proportion of FFEL program dollars was borrowed through the Stafford (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) loan program combination across all types of institutions, except at public 2-year institutions in FY95. At public 2-year institutions, in FY95, the largest proportion of FFEL program dollars was borrowed through the Stafford Subsidized loan combination.
- The proportion of FFEL program dollars borrowed through the Stafford Subsidized loan program decreased from 38.6 percent in FY94 to 28.5 percent in FY96. At the same time, the proportion of FFEL dollars borrowed through the Stafford (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) loan combination increased from 25.7 percent in FY94 to 52.8 percent in FY96.
- In FY95-FY96, the largest proportion of FFEL program dollars received by borrowers at private 2- and 4-year institutions was borrowed through the Stafford (Subsidized and Unsubsidized) loan combination. In FY94, however, the largest proportion of FFEL program dollars was borrowed through the Stafford Subsidized Loan program.
- In FY94-FY96, the largest proportion of borrowers at public 2- and 4-year institutions borrowed through the Stafford Subsidized loan program.
