This table contrasts FFEL program and FDLP activity in FY94-FY96. It compares the number and dollar amount of loans committed through Stafford Subsidized, Stafford Unsubsidized, Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), and Supplemental Loan for Students (SLS) programs. FDLP loan volume is reported as a percent of the total FFEL program and FDLP loan volume committed
- FDLP dollar amounts increased dramatically between FY94 and FY96, rising from $915.0 million to $9.4 billion. FFEL program loan volume decreased during the same period, falling from $23.1 to $19.7 billion.
- Of all dollars guaranteed through FFEL program and FDLP, the percentage of FDLP dollars rose sharply from 3.8 percent in FY94 to 19.6 percent in FY95, and to 32.2 percent in FY96.
- Between FY94 and FY96, FFEL program and FDLP commitments were highest for the Stafford Subsidized loan program.
- The total dollar amount committed through FFEL program and FDLP increased from $24.0 billion in FY94 to $29.1 billion in FY96, representing a 21.4 percent increase.
NOTE: FDLP loan data in FY94 only include one-quarter of that fiscal year, and FDLP loans were restricted to a small number of institutions.
