G. Special Projects

Special Projects provides audiovisual, photographic, services for the Office of the Secretary and other Departmental offices as requested.  Staff members travel with the Secretary and other Senior ED Officials to capture photographic and video recordings of events for use internal and external to the Department.  Also, the staff manage a variety of long-term and short-term communications efforts.  On-going projects include updating multi-volume publications, producing the Department of Education’s live, monthly television program, Education News Parents Can Use, available to the general public around the nation via broadcast, cable and satellite distribution.  This staff also produces one-time, fast-turnaround communications and outreach efforts at the request of the Secretary and other Senior Department Officials.  This work is conducted using the unit’s staff resources, by creating and managing cross-OCO and cross-Departmental teams, and, when necessary, with contract support.

Television Team

The Team is responsible for producing the monthly program, Education News Parents Can Use as well as other video presentations. Team members also travel with the Secretary and other Senior ED Officials to capture photographic and video recordings of events for use both internal and external to the Department.
