B. Office of the Principal Deputy to the Chief Operating Officer

The Office of the Principal Deputy to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is led by the COO- empowered official who acts in the COO’s absence and strategizes, collaborates across the mission support offices. The Principal Deputy to the COO serves to establish a leadership framework of trust, shared understanding, and strategic guidance. Additionally, the mission support functions will be consolidated under this office to deliver agile and responsive enterprise services to integrate FSA’s operational business units (i.e., the Office of Student Experience and Aid Delivery (SEAD), the Office of Partner Participation and Oversight (PPO), the Office of Strategic Measures and Outcomes (SMO), and the Office of Strategy, Innovation, and Transformation (SIT)). The office provides strategic focus, economies of scale, and cross-functional collaboration and synergy to improve support services across the enterprise. The Principal Deputy to the COO will oversee the following mission support business units:

• Strategic Communications Directorate
• Management Services Directorate
• Enterprise Technology Directorate
