The OVAE Fact Sheet Series highlights efforts currently underway at the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) to support the principles of the President's No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. The principle(s) supported by this effort are:

  • Increase Accountability and Academic Achievement
  • Focus on What Works


The National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education is one of two centers funded by the Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) to support career and technical education. The Dissemination Center focuses on effective practices and professional development in Career and Technical Education (CTE). The other center is the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education.


The National Dissemination Center operates in consultation with OVAE and is designed to disseminate research-based practices and provide professional development opportunities in the field of CTE. Services and products are focused on helping students achieve the academic and technical skills needed to succeed in their chosen career paths.

The National Dissemination Center represents a consortium of universities that include: Ohio State University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Oregon, the University of Illinois at Champaign - Urbana, and Pennsylvania State University. Johns Hopkins University and the Academy of Educational Development are associate partners.

Outcomes and Products

  • Dissemination of effective practices and technical assistance tools
  • Research reports and topical fact sheets that synthesize information for targeted audiences
  • A professional development series
  • Best practices based on evidence-based research
  • A repository of academic and occupational standards
