Dan Zibel
Deputy Assistant General Counsel

Dan Zibel is a Deputy Assistant General Counsel for Postsecondary Education and has served in that capacity since July 2016. In this role, Dan focuses primarily on representing, and managing OGC’s representation of, the Department on enforcement issues involving the Federal Student Aid (FSA) programs administered by the Department’s FSA office. Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel in 2014, Dan worked in private practice where he counseled and litigated on behalf of corporate, non-profit, and individual clients in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.

Dan received his B.A. from Haverford College and his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School where he served as an editor of the Michigan Law Review. He is a member of the bars of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the District of Columbia, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Second, Ninth, Tenth, and D.C. Circuits, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
