Ron Petracca is Senior Counsel to the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Education. He assists the General Counsel by leading the Office’s Discretionary Grants Practice Team and providing advice on a variety of legal and policy issues involving innovative programs and initiatives, services to English learners, and the work of the Institute of Education Sciences. He joined the Office of the General Counsel in 1981 and worked in the Division of Educational Equity and Research until 2012.

Mr. Petracca also worked as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in 1990-1991. He graduated from the State University of New York College at Cortland in 1978 and received his law degree from the Catholic University of America in 1981.
