Lynn Mahaffie is the Assistant General Counsel for the Division of Regulatory Services. Before joining the Office of the General Counsel, Lynn served in leadership roles in the Office of Postsecondary Education for over 25 years. Most recently, Lynn was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Planning, and Innovation responsible for policy development and regulatory activities relating to federal student aid programs. She also managed discretionary grant programs for many years. Prior to joining the Department of Education, Lynn practiced law in the District of Columbia. She holds degrees from George Washington University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
