The U.S. Department of Education (ED), in cooperation with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), held a meeting June 18-19, 2004, on state science assessments. The purpose was to discuss issues related to the state science assessments required by 2007-2008 under No Child Left Behind and how both organizations can be of help as states develop and implement high quality science assessments.
