This is an updated version of Helping Your Child Use the Library, which was originally published in 1989. It was a joint effort of OERI's Library Programs and Information Services units, with technical advice from Programs for the Improvement of Practice. In addition, the Consumer Information Center of the General Services Administration and the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, Library of Congress, assisted with review and development. This publication could not have been done without the help provided by many librarians across the country who furnished materials on their programs for children, as well as committee members and staff of the American Library Association who reviewed the manuscript and assisted in its development. Tim Burr and Christina Dunn from OERI contributed greatly to the development of this book.
