This program focuses on recruiting teachers nationally, regionally, and locally to become secondary teachers in high-need schools in Montana, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The audience for recruiting includes experienced professionals, soon to retire or retired service members, and Native Americans. A website serves as a clearinghouse for information, communication, instruction, and networking. The compact six-course sequence is delivered on-site and/or via asynchronous distance technology for state licensure. Two additional graduate courses complete the requirements for a master's degree. A year-long internship is based on the resident teaching model and includes on-site master teachers. Retired and in-service teachers are recruited and trained to be mentors.
