Emergency Management for Higher Education
The Department released a Notice Inviting Application (NIA) for the EMHE program in fiscal year (FY) 2010 on April 1, 2010. The application deadline in May 12, 2010. Awards for FY 2010 are expected to be made on, or around, September 30, 2010. We anticipate awarding approximately $9 million in EMHE support in FY 2010.
In FY 2009, additional applications will be funded from the FY 2008 EMHE slate.
Type of Award: Discretionary grants
Estimated Available Funds: $5,374,000
Estimated Range of Awards: $50,000 - $500,000
Estimated Average Size of Awards:
- $50,000 for small-sized institutions (1-10 campus facilities);
- $250,000 for medium-sized institutions (11-40 campus facilities); and
- $500,000 for large-sized institutions (41 or more campus facilities)
Estimated Number of Awards: 18
Project Period: Up to 18 months
A "campus facility" includes any building or structure utilized to operate or support the institution. This includes, but is not limited to: educational buildings, residential buildings, research facilities, transportation or food centers, hospitals or counseling centers, administrative offices, stadiums, arenas, or facilities buildings.
