Comments are invited on a new information collection. The Study of Teacher Preparation in Early Reading Instruction will assess the extent to which school of education coursework related to elementary reading is aligned with the National Reading Panel (NRP) Report as well as assess new teachers' preparation to teach the five essential components of reading as identified by the NRP report and specified in the Reading First program statute. Comments due on or before January 19, 2006.

Notice of Proposed Information Collection Requests; Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS): 2007 [IES] (Dec 08, 2005)
The TIMSS 2007 will assess the mathematical and science knowledge of students in over 60 participating countries. This is the fourth cycle of TIMSS studies. Previous TIMSS were conducted in 1994-1995, 1999, and 2003. TIMSS 2007 will go to fourth and eighth graders in the United States. Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before February 6, 2006.
