Office of Innovation and Improvement; State Charter School Facilities Incentive Program, 34 CFR Part 226; Final regulations [OII] (Dec 21, 2005)
The Secretary issues regulations to administer the State Charter School Facilities Incentive program. Under this program, the Department of Education provides competitive grants to States to help charter schools meet their need for facilities. These regulations are effective January 20, 2006.

Comments invited on revisions to an application package. LEAs will apply for funding under the REAP Small, Rural School Achievement Program. This collection consists of an additional form to the Spreadsheet and Instructions which will address the second tier of the Department's strategy for completing the funding process. Comments are invited on a new information collection. The Study of Teacher Preparation in Early Reading Instruction will assess the extent to which school of education coursework related to elementary reading is aligned with the National Reading Panel (NRP) Report as well as assess new teachers' preparation to teach the five essential components of reading as identified by the NRP report and specified in the Reading First program statute. Notice of Proposed Information Collection Requests; Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS): 2007 [IES] (Dec 08, 2005)
The TIMSS 2007 will assess the mathematical and science knowledge of students in over 60 participating countries. This is the fourth cycle of TIMSS studies. Previous TIMSS were conducted in 1994-1995, 1999, and 2003. TIMSS 2007 will go to fourth and eighth graders in the United States. Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before February 6, 2006.
