The TIMSS 2007 will assess the mathematical and science knowledge of students in over 60 participating countries. This is the fourth cycle of TIMSS studies. Previous TIMSS were conducted in 1994-1995, 1999, and 2003. TIMSS 2007 will go to fourth and eighth graders in the United States. Interested persons are invited to submit comments on or before February 6, 2006.

It is is a nationally representative longitudinal study of children born in the year 2001. Children are assessed using state of the art assessment tools, parents are interviewed as well as child care providers and school personnel.
