Notice of proposed information collection requests. It is unlikely that Congress will pass a reauthorization of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) this year. The Policy Memorandum is designed to advise states about how to continue their adult education program under section 422 of the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) [20 U.S.C. 1226 (a)].

Notice of Proposed Information Collection Requests; Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act (Pub.L. 105-332)--State Plan-Perkins Annual Levels of Performance [OVAE] (Jul 28, 2003)
Pub. L. 105-332 requires eligible State agencies to submit a 5-year State plan, with annual revisions as the agency deems necessary, in order to receive Federal funds. Program staff review the plans for compliance and quality. This collection also solicits proposed annual levels of performance from States and outlying areas in accordance with section 113(b)(3)(A)(v) of the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act (Pub. L. 105-332).

Submission for OMB Review; Comment Request; Even Start Classroom Literacy Interventions and Outcomes (CLIO) Study [IES] (Jun 30, 2003)
CLIO will test the effectiveness for children and parents of promising early childhood education and parenting education interventions in a sample of Even Start projects to determine: (1) Whether enhanced interventions that focus on literacy and integrate early childhood and parenting education are more effective than existing Even Start services; (2) the relative effectiveness of different interventions; and (3) the relative contribution of enhanced parenting education to program results.
