Objective: To provide life skills to county jail inmates in a medium and maximum security institution.
Procedures: Inmates with at least 60 days remaining to serve will be eligible.Experimental and control groups will be randomly assigned.Participants will attend workshops 2 hours a day, 5 days a week, and meet at least twice with their case manager prior to termination.
Outcomes/Results/Products: At least 70 percent of those enrolled will complete the program successfully.A majority will show improved cognitive skills.Recidivism rates for graduates will be lower than for members of the control group at a statistically significant level.
