The National Research Center on Postsecondary Improvement

The U.S. Department of Education awarded a five-year grant to Stanford University in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Michigan, to establish the National Center for Postsecondary Improvement (NCPI). The project total award is approximately $12.5 million. Based at Stanford University, the Center will conduct research and policy analysis addressing the fundamental challenges of improving postsecondary education in a rapidly changing national and global environment.

The NCPI mission and research agenda will be to assist the transformation and improvement of postsecondary education in its diverse forms. The Center will conduct research that identifies successful initiatives to help postsecondary institutions adapt to a growing and insistent set of external pressures. The Center will also disseminate to a broad array of stakeholders the research findings, products, and implementation strategies that emerge from the work of these leading scholars. NCPI plans to study the complete range of the nation's postsecondary institutions-including universities, community colleges, and vocational-technical schools.
