    Abstract: The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is
a federally authorized survey of student achievement at grades 4, 8,

science, U.S. history, civics, geography, economics, and the arts. In
the current legislation that reauthorized NAEP (The No Child Left
Behind Act of 2001 (Pub. L. 107-110)), Congress mandated again the
collection of national education survey data through a national
assessment program. The 2011 Wave 2 submittal contains the grades 8 and
12 writing non-cognitive (computer-delivered) questions; the National
Indian Education Study (NIES) student, teacher, and school questions;
and the non-cognitive questions for three special studies: The
Mathematics Computer-Based Study (MCBS), Knowledge and Skills
Appropriate (KaSA) Study, and the alignment study between NAEP and
TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study)
