As part of the implementation of OSEP's four-part accountability strategy (Systems Verification, High Risk, Continuous Improvement and Focused Monitoring and Intervention), OSEP began conducting visits to states and entities in 2003 to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of states' general supervision, assessment and data collection systems (Systems Verification). OSEP is issuing letters to each of the states visited to inform them of the review results. In each state, OSEP reviewed both the Part B and Part C systems. OSEP's responses will be included on the Web as they are issued.
The IDEA Part C, Sections 611 and 619 formula grant programs assist states in providing a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment for children with disabilities ages 3 through 21.
