The Surveys and Cooperative Systems Group of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) within the US Department of Education has a requirement to improve the quality, comparability and accessibility of data reported by state and local education agencies. This will encourage state and local agencies to adopt the standards and use the technical assistance available from NCES. It will identify emerging needs and potential uses for the data these agencies collect. Widespread use of the data standards, products and services will in turn further goals for a national data system developed jointly by the Department of Education and the states under the National Cooperative Education Statistics System. Requests for copies of the RFP may be made by telephone, mail,telegram, Internet, or in person. All requests shall reference the RFP number (ED-98-R-0012) and title. Telephone requests may be placed by calling 202-708-6498. Mail or telegram requests shall be sent to the following address, U.S. Department of Education/CPO, ATTN: Yolanda Abney, Room 3616, 7 & D Streets, SW, Washington, DC 20202-4443. Internet requests may be sent to Yolanda_Abney@ed.gov . Copies of the RFP may be picked up in person on the issuing date at the above address, Room 3616. Issuing date is June 26, 1998 and Closing date is July 28, 1998. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered. The dates listed herein are subject to change.
