Abstract:
The Pell Grant is a Federal student aid grant awarded to undergraduate students. The Pell Grant Recipient Financial Management System (Pell) allows the Department to generate obligation information and monitor grant funds at both the school and recipient level.

Purpose:
The Pell System allows the Department to generate obligation information and monitor grant funds at both the school and recipient level.

Agency Program:
The Pell Grant Program is authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act.

Sources of Data:
Data come from the Central Processing System and postsecondary schools.

Access Constraints:
Direct access to the system is limited to authorized ED staff. Data on Pell Grant disbursements by school is available to the public. Individual recipient data is exempt from disclosure under provisions of the Privacy Act.
