| The Student Achievement and School Accountability (SASA) Office supports systemic efforts to improve academic achievement in Schools that serve low-income communities. This is accomplished primarily through the administration of programs under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, providing over 0.7 billion in FY 2002 to improve teaching and learning in schools throughout the nation. |

| On May 30, 2012, OCR completed a compliance review of Dearborn Public Schools, Michigan. The review addressed whether national-origin minority, limited English proficient (LEP) parents are being denied meaningful communications of school-related information in a language they can understand and thus subjected to discrimination on the basis of national origin. |
