Goal 8: To significantly increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

Explanation: Data will continue to be collected on successful completion of core academic subjects and other college preparatory courses. Note that standards to enter and complete above grade level math courses (such as prealgebra and Algebra I for 7th graders) are becoming more rigorous. This practice may limit the percentage of students in many schools served by GEAR UP who are entering and completing such courses. Also Note that data for Year 2001 were obtained from the GEAR UP Annual Performance Report covering April 2000 - March 2001.
