FY 2014
FY 2014 President's Budget Request —On April 10, 2013 President Obama released his Fiscal Year 2014 Budget. See what is requested for the programs and activities of the Department of Education.
FY 2013
FY 2013 Congressional Action—On March 26, 2013, the President signed P.L. 113-6, the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013, providing funding for the remainder of fiscal year 2013. On April 25, 2013, the Department provided an operating plan to Congress showing the distribution of the appropriation (link below) and a narrative summary PDF. In general, programs are reduced 5.23 percent less than the 2012 level. The 5.23 percent reduction is the effect of the sequester and an across-the-board cut in the final appropriation. Sequestration—The President was required by the Budget Control Act of 2011, as amended, to issue a sequestration order on March 1, 2013, for automatic spending cuts to Federal Government programs for the remainder of the fiscal year. The tables PDF [107KB] and MS Excel [112KB]
show the estimated dollar impact of the sequester on States under the Department’s 12 largest formula grant programs.

FY 2012 Appropriations
FY 2012 Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012—On December 23, 2011 the President signed into law H.R. 2055, providing appropriations for the Department for fiscal year 2012 through September 30, 2012. A table is available in PDF [128KB] and MS Excel [337KB].

FY 2011 Continuing Resolutions
FY 2011 Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act—On April 15, 2011, the President signed into law P.L. 112-10, making further continuing appropriations for FY 2011 through September 30, 2011. A table (last updated 06/03/2011) showing the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations Act, 2011, for ED programs, including the FY 2011 initial appropriation, the 0.2 percent across-the-board rescission for FY 2011, and the final 2011 amounts, both rounded and in whole dollars, is available in PDF [115KB] and MS Excel [328KB]. This table also shows the amounts provided in FY 2010 (including SAFRA and P.L. 111-226). FY 2011 Appropriations—On December 14, 2010, the Senate Appropriations Committee released details of its FY 2011 Consolidated Appropriations Act, a substitute amendment to the House passed Continuing Resolution (H.R. 3082). Division H, title II of this Senate "omnibus" appropriations bill would provide FY 2011 appropriations for the Department of Education (ED).
