Welcome to the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) Community College website.

We are refocusing this website based on suggestions from community college presidents, trustees, faculty leaders, researchers, development directors, and students. The first new area of focus:

The Adult College Completion Toolkit [PDF, 2.18MB]—a collection of resources designed to connect state administrators and local practitioners to the strategies, resources, and technical assistance tools. The toolkit focuses on three key areas: access, quality, and completion. Four target student populations include veterans, adult basic education students, incarcerated individuals, and skilled immigrants.

Papers prepared for the White House Summit on Community Colleges (October 2010) are now available. Topics include apprenticeships, partnerships with industries, partnerships with high schools, support services for students, financial aid, transfer policies, boosting completion rates, engaging service members, and using data.
