You will find information on grants that community colleges can apply for, financial aid resources for students (such as student loans), student success resources and resources for veterans transitioning to college. You will also find communities of practice we have developed for those working in Adult Education (see LINCS) and in Career and Technical Education (see PCRN). We also will be building a community college resource list for resources from other federal agencies.

Administration/Department of Education Initiatives That Are Relevant to Community Colleges

Learn more about the newly reauthorized Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). See also the related Job-Driven Training Report in our What's New section. The College Opportunity Day of Action resulted in some over 600 new commitments by national organizations, funder and institutions to improve college access and completion for low income students. The My Brother's Keeper initiative addresses persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color and ensure that all young people can reach their full potential. The White House Maker Faire initiative celebrates innovation and entrepreneurship in students learning STEM skills to power the renaissance in American manufacturing. In order to expand economic opportunity in America and enhance our global competitiveness, the President has also called for our workforce development system to be more job-driven and tasked Vice President Biden with developing a report on our current workforce investments. As part of this call, the President also set a goal for doubling the number of apprentices in the US as well as forming the Registered Apprenticeship College Consortium. Many more initiatives can be found here.

In our Research section you'll find information that focuses on community college issues such as work force development, and community college completion.
