U.S. ED’s OSDFS’ SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE TA CENTER ANNOUNCES A WEBINAR ON SCHOOL CLIMATE TEAMS, WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2011, 4:00 P.M. – 5:30 P.M. EDT AND THURSDAY, MAY 12, 2011, 11:00 A.M. – 12:30 P.M., EDT
The U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools’ Safe and Supportive Schools (S3) Technical Assistance Center announces the third in its series of School Climate Webinars: School Climate Teams: Strategic Planning for Integrating Promotion Prevention and Intervention into School Climate (Part 1)
This Webinar is the first of a two-part event on school climate teams and the role they play in improving conditions for learning in schools. Part 1 will be offered twice to accommodate schedules.
Session 1: Wednesday, May 11, 2011 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm ET
Session 2: Thursday, May 12, 2011 11:00 am – 12:30 pm ET

Those who successfully register will receive an e-mail confirmation. And information on how to connect to each Webinar will be sent to those who register the evening before the event. However, as space is limited, please register now. The Center will maintain a waiting list and contact those on the list if space becomes available.
For this Webinar, Kevin P. Dwyer, MA, School Psychologist, will discuss the role of School Climate Teams in enhancing academic achievement and a safe school climate as well as:
- Provide practical guidance in enhancing school climate through school-based and central management teaming,
- Explain how effective promotion, prevention and intervention can be coordinated following a three-tiered model,
- Explore how school climate surveys as well as initial needs and resources evaluation can be utilized in developing a comprehensive strategic plan for school climate--and actions to implement that plan,
- Discuss school based leadership’s responsibility in establishing a climate team’s role and supporting the resources to maintain that role, and
- Provide concrete system examples of implementation from the field.
Audience: This Webinar is appropriate for all levels of school staff, administration, and policymakers. It is recommended that at least 3 people, from a range of different positions within a school and/or school district, participate in this Webinar together.

TOPIC: “GRANT WRITING 101" TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE WEBINAR
Held Wednesday, June 2, 2010, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools (OSDFS) offered a webinar to the public for those individuals that will be submitting a discretionary grant application for OSDFS programs. OSDFS Staff will provided tips and discussed common elements that should be addressed when submitting an application.
