Secretary's No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Technology Leadership Summits

The Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education (ED) is hosting leadership summits during 2004. ED is providing technical assistance on how technology can assist the implementation of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB).

The goals are to:

  • Provide foundational knowledge and strategies for implementing NCLB successfully using technology.
  • Encourage participants to develop a shared understanding of ways that technology can enhance implementation of NCLB.
  • Build state and district capacity for promoting and sustaining effective professional development related to the selection and use of technology tools.
  • Engage states and districts as partners in a national movement to improve academic achievement for all students through effective uses of technology.

The first summit, focused on empowering accountability and assessment with technology, was held in St. Louis, MO, on March 10-12, 2004.

The second summit, focused on increasing options though e-learning, was held in Orlando, FL, on July 12-13, 2004.
