Associate General Counsel
Laura Ginns serves as Associate General Counsel in the Office of the General Counsel. In this role, Ms. Ginns serves as a principal advisor to the General Counsel on a variety of Federal education law and policy issues.
Prior to joining the Department, Ms. Ginns worked as a litigation associate at Latham & Watkins, LLP in New York, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Kiyo A. Matsumoto in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Ms. Ginns also spent two years teaching fourth grade in the South Bronx as a Teach for America corps member.
Ms. Ginns holds a bachelor of arts in American Government from Georgetown University and a master's in Teaching from the School of Education at Pace University. Ms. Ginns earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center where she also clerked in a variety of juvenile justice settings.
