Deputy General Counsel for Accountability
Franklyn Duporte is the Deputy General Counsel for Accountability in the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) at the U.S. Department of Education. In this post, Franklyn serves as the point of contact for OGC with the U.S. Government Accountability Office and the Department’s Inspector General on investigations and audits. He also serves on the Department’s Financial Fraud Enforcement Taskforce, facilitates the implementation of cybersecurity initiatives and coordinates Federal Student Aid matters.
Prior to joining OGC, Mr. Duporte worked at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP as a Corporate Finance Associate in New York and Washington, D.C. At Skadden, he handled mergers and acquisitions and represented underwriters and issuers in domestic and international public offerings and private placement transactions.
Mr. Duporte earned his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, and BAs in Political Science and Philosophy from Syracuse University. He is admitted to practice in New York and Washington, D.C.
