Title IX: Sexual Harassment: Yale University (CT):
(01-11-2027)

On June 15, 2012, OCR resolved a Title IX complaint filed against Yale University alleging sex discrimination in violation of Title IX. OCR initiated an investigation to assess whether the University had allowed a sexually hostile environment to be created on campus by not sufficiently responding to notice of sexual harassment, whether the University had designated a Title IX Coordinator, and whether the University had prompt and equitable grievance procedures to address complaints under Title IX.  Prior to the conclusion of OCR’s investigation, the University entered into a Resolution Agreement with OCR. The Agreement calls for the University to: (1) continue implementing its new grievance procedures designed to promptly and equitably to address complaints of sexual misconduct under Title IX; (2) continue to coordinate its compliance efforts via its university Title IX coordinators and widely publicize information regarding its designated Title IX coordinators; (3) continue efforts to educate all sectors of the university community on Title IX; (4) continue to improve and publicize University resources and programming aimed at responding to and preventing sexual harassment and violence; (5) conduct periodic assessments of campus climate with regard to gender discrimination, sexual misconduct and Title IX; and (6) continue its efforts related to addressing campus organizations/organized student events, responsible drinking, student leadership councils and hazing/initiations.
