Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships does not make grants

  • The Center itself does not make grants or have any influence over grants made by the Department of Education or any other federal agency. However, community based organization, both secular and faith-based, are eligible for many competitive grants from the Department of Education and other agencies.

  • Executive branch and U.S. Department of Education policies state that religiously affiliated organization are able to compete on an equal footing with other organizations for grants as long as the application is within constitutional church-state guidelines. Among other things these guidelines state that federal funds may not be used for religious purposes, such as worship services, or for a religious organize to proselytize.

  • The discretionary grants process at the U.S. Department of Education supports the goals of the department. Current grant opportunities at the Department of Education are updated frequently. Community based organizations may also want to investigate the catalog of grants available from all federal agencies.
